WUGEN seems to build a good WAYFless link to the home page of a journal, eg:
https://YOURIDP/SSO?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.degruyter.com%2Fopenurl%3Fgenre%3Djournal%26issn%3D1934-2640&shire=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.degruyter.com%2Foa%2Fauth%2Frcv%2Fshib%2Fpost&providerId=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.degruyter.com%2Fshibboleth
However, having authenticated via Shibboleth I land at the journal's home page but I am not authorised to view any content. I double checked this by using the licenced filter on the advanced search and no licenced content was indicated. Only IP authentication permits access to licenced material. I'll report this to de Gruyter.

Tom, Mark,
Just checked here, no I can't get to the content via the institutional
login (Shibb) either.
Just go round in a circle, as you describe.
Thanks for highlighting that, I didn't know it wasn't working.
Imagine I've not had any user complaints as most access here going via
EZProxy, which is working.

Hi Mark,
That's great, thank you. Sorry, I could have been more clear about that;
our users are not able to ultimately get at the content, they just keep
getting returned to the home page. I don't know how many times they've
tried repeating the process, but I went round four times without success
before giving up. Fifth time lucky maybe?
Many thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom.
The being bounced back to the home page after selecting a resource and
having to navigate back to it again is a problem we keep highlighting to
some publishers and its good to have feedback on that.
It's also one of the things mentioned in the Refeds best practice guide
that we use to show publishers some of these problems.
http://discovery.refeds.org/
I wasn't sure from your email if your users are actually getting the
content in the end, however torturous the journey?
Thanks
Mark

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Shibboleth problem with de Gruyter journals
Good afternoon all,
Since early April we've been unable to access our subscribed de Gruyter
journal content from off-campus. If a user finds the article they want and
tries to open the full-text PDF, a box pops up asking them to sign in, or
pay, or connect via institution. They click ‘connect via institution’,
select ‘Aberystwyth University’, click ‘go to login’, and then up pops the
shibboleth box for them to enter their university username and password.
So far so good – but then they get returned to the de Gruyter homepage.
So then they have to search for the journal again and find the article.
When they try to open the full text PDF, a box pops up asking them to sign
in, or pay, or connect via institution. They click ‘connect via
institution’…. well, you get the idea. Access from ON-campus works fine.
I reported this to de Gruyter six weeks ago, but they don't seem to be
tackling the problem with any great sense of urgency.
Can I ask - is anybody else experiencing this, or are we alone?
Many thanks,
Tom Francis
