A very few places are still available on this course, running on
Thursday February 18th:
Sources of Environmental Information
Environmental information is scattered across a wide range of
disciplines, making it difficult and time-consuming for the
inexperienced searcher to find. This one day course is designed to
introduce environmental workers, researchers and information
professionals to the rapidly expanding area of environmental
information - including traditional printed material, grey literature,
online and CD-ROM sources and the Internet. The course is aimed
primarily at beginners, although more experienced searchers will find
it a valuable way of updating their knowledge.
The course will help participants to:
· Decide the most suitable sources of information for their needs
· Learn about the range of information available from electronic
sources
· Discover the wealth of environmental information available on the
Internet
· Explore a variety of environmental databases through 'hands-on'
demonstrations
During the day participants will be invited to view a number of
demonstrations of environmental database products. The course also
includes a demonstration of sources of environmental information on
the Internet, giving participants an idea of the range of information
now available through this medium.
The speakers include both experienced information officers from the
British Library Environmental Information Service (EIS) and outside
experts, each with specialist skills in a particular field of
environmental information.
Venue: The British Library, 25 Southampton Buildings, London WC2A 1AW.
Start time: 9.15 am.
Fee: £175 + VAT
