Dear A. Dakouri,
I too have encountered the problems of fuzzy vs. crisp data represetation.
The UCONN web page from the Geology Dept has indepth GIS info, they use
ARC-View and ARC-info, if you email one of the grad students directly they
may be able to help you.
Try these two references too.
