A few weeks ago, remarking on the quotation from 'A Flight of Fact', I
somewhat intemperately observed to John Radcliffe that reading Land and
Sea Tales 'once is enough' as far as I am concerned.
John demurred, particularly mentioning 'His Gift' as enjoyable. So I
read the whole collection again, and I haven't changed my mind. Although
most of the stories are quite entertaining, they all strike me as the
work of a highly competent journalist - there's not a daemon in the
whole book.
Does anyone else want to change my mind, suggest an approach or an idea?
Liz
