Sorry to be pedantic, but I presume you mean "England": Britain had been
christianized much earlier, Christianity had been the official religion of
the later Roman Empire, and parts of Britain (the West and North) remained
"christian" continuously thereafter. The history for this period is indeed
_very_ sparse but not entirely non-existant. There is some evidence that St
Augustine attempted a rapprochment with the British church but was given the
brush-off. Some good background reading to this might be Charles Thomas
"Christianity in Roman Britain to AD 500", London, 1981.
