Dear colleagues,
I've received the following message from the administrators of Mailbase. Briefly, it
says that delivery of mail sent to the list around the Christmas and New Year period
will be assured, but it also advises you to suspend your mail if you think you will
be away from your computers for an extended period of time, or if your site will shut
down at that time.

>From Mailbase:
It is envisaged that Mailbase will be operating as per normal over the
Xmas / New Year period. We will be extending the queue timeout length
to the usual 14 days instead of 7 (so messages will be held on the
server for 2 weeks before being returned to sender if delivery cannot be
made).
Good advice would be that if your site intends to shutdown over
the New Year break, then you should consider suspending list mail over
that period (any mail sent in the interim will in the majority of
cases be archived on the web). This would save us a lot of grief (and
diskspace!)
********************
Hope this is of help.
George
