Indeed.
Not just Cistercians, but real Benedictines as well used similar language in
the introductory harangae of their foundation charters in the diocese of
Chartres in the 11-12th cc.; as does Suger, in his account of his restoration
of the property of St. Deny during his administration in the early 12th.
Nice to have the (or at least one of the) original biblical reference(s)
nailed down, though.
