There is a very substantial and useful study in a journal that
publishes longer-than-normal articles: James W. Alexander, "Herbert of
Norwich, 1091-1119: Studies in the History of Norman England," Studies in
Medieval and Renaissance History 6 (1969). There is also more recent work
by Christopher Harper-Bill. I am afraid I don't have the references to
hand, but I believe one of them is the volume of English Episcopal Acta
for Norwich.
Best wishes,
John
