thanks to all who suggested biblio. My "problem-child" image is a statue of
Chastity holding a quite large, possibly pregnant rabbit-hence
containing-literally Luxuria. the traditional pairing or trampling upon is
updated in a way for which I can find no precedent. the obvious connection
of the rabbit with lust or fecundity I know but the specific carrying of the
rabbit (who is full or swollen- luxuriare )by a figure of Charity seems
distinctive to my sculpture, the Arca di Sant' Agostino in Pavia. Sharon
