Venue: Nissan Lecture Theatre, St. Antony's College, Oxford University
The Centre for Modern Chinese Studies of Oxford University, jointly with
Chinese
Economics Association (UK), is to host a half-day conference on China's
Financial Reform
on Saturday, 30 October 1999. The conference focuses on problems in
China's financial
sector reform, its achievements and challenges ahead. Current research on
how China's
financial reform has influenced interactions between banks, securities
markets, firms and
corporate governance is also covered. International experts will be
speaking at the
workshop.
We welcome participants from academic institutions, industry and government
departments.
It is our intention to create a timely opportunity for multi-institutional
groups to meet to
exchange information and ideas on the development of China's financial
sector, whose
importance has taken on a growing interest worldwide.
A small grant has been awarded by ESRC Chinese Economy Seminar for the
conference.
With this financial support, no registration fee is required for
participants. Student members
of the Chinese Economic Association in the UK may be reimbursed for their
