I have also encountered a number of disabled persons who are in
disability-related posts and are cited by their institutions as "[our]
disabled [person on staff]" who really fail other persons with disabilties,
for a variety of reasons (selling out, cooptation, lack of skill, etc.). Not
the majority or anything, but a number. So, efforts to employ, hire, retain
PWDs is critical, but it's equally important (at least from my political
view) to employ, hire, retain strong-willed, pro-disability rights PWDs as
well as strong-willed, pro-disability rights ABs.
