There have been a number of excellent texts written on the specific exercise
strategies and guidelines for these conditions. One source for reference
texts is the American College of Sports Medicine at www.acsm.org or
publishers such as Human Kinetics www.humankinetics.com
You may also look into the Physician and Sportsmedicine Website at
www.physsportsmed.com . They have a number of online articles (including
articles from past issues) covering a wide variety of conditions and the
benefits of specific exercise.
There are often restrictions and contraindications to exercise with many
cardiovascular conditions. These individuals may also be taking medication
that could severely affect their response to exercise, so it is best to be
as well informed about each particular condition before you start. It would
be unwise to try to approach all cardiovascular conditions with the same
exercise strategy.
Hope this info was of some use.
Sincerely,
John R. Gray, M.Sc., C.S.C.S.
