There is a story about the use of St.Columba's relics in Iona to make
rain in Adomnán's Vita Columbae written in the end of 7th century. It is
one of the episodes that Adomnán tells to have wittnessed himself and
there the monks carry the books and clothes of the saints around the
monastery's fields in order to get rain.
