I agree. For far too long ICT co-ordinators have been "fleeced" by the PC
makers. I'm at a school which is heavily based around a PC network - why ?
.... because they felt they had no choice but to go down that route. Did
they look at Apple when they began - no came the reply - why I asked ?
Because the school/authority recommended them.
Apple has been given much stick in the past and I think it's time to realise
that the technology, useability, connectivity and software is just so much
better - especially in education. Why give Office (& (2000)) to someone at
KS3 - it would certainly switch me off to computers! They can be exciting
and developmental for a pupil - a spark for their imagination ( I can never
see MS Excel doing that !).
I don't want to raise old issues but the PC has a part to play - as part of
a network with Apples .... becuase Apples can talk to PC's (and don't let
those nasty PC salemen tell you otherwise !).
Cheers
Alan (waiting for his Apple delivery !)
