Always assumed (for no particular reason, being both Egyptologically
*and* Iconographically challenged) that it was of great antiquity.
Before becomming completely exhasperated, I was, on the whole, rather
unimpressed with the overall quality of Egyptian art on the web.
We're not *quite* in the Bookless Library stage yet, I fear.
The Akhnaten examples are (when seen in sufficient detail) particularly
striking , however, with the King's up-raised palms receiving (in my
interpretation) Grace from the Solar Disk/Face of Aten in the form of sun-rays
which terminate in little hands which caress Pharaoh and his family.
A profoundly touching image, particularly when taken together with the
stylistic "naturalism" (dreadful construct) characteristic of the art of the
Amarna Revolution (ditto).

Whence, for example?
Guess I'm something of an Egypto-centrist, myself.
Best to all from here,
Christopher
