Interesting thought.
If GPs are to have a role in educating A&E junior staff, wouldn't it be more
appropriate for them to come into our practices as GP Registrars, and then
they can see the problem in context? It is by no means just the A&E juniors -
indeed, I would identify them as perhaps better than average - who are poor
letter-writers.
However, although it may work in your area, the idea of sending the letters
back has met with a very swift response in ours - "this is what you get -
take it or leave it". I'm afraid I remain sceptical about the
behaviour-modifying impact of sending a letter back for correction.
