MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE FOR DISABLED AND DISADVANTAGED PEOPLE
A one day conference promoting good practice and practical solutions for
public services -
Organised by the Community Services Group of the Library Association.
The Conference will be held on

AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE
To identify the responsibility of information services within the Disability
Discrimination Act.
To understand the needs of people who are disabled or disadvantaged by
conventional IT Provision.
To create awareness of the range of software and equipment which can make
access possible.
To facilitate positive networking between information workers in the region.

1. Guided Tour of the AIRS project which provides information for people
with visual impairments.
2. Guided Tour of the ICT facilities for the visually impaired and deaf
people provided by Gateshead Central Library
3. Discussion group on marketing and promoting IT facilities to disabled
people
