"Gaudeamus igitur" seems to be alive and well in scandinavia generally.
in fact, i sang it yesterday (in Icelandic translation) at a memorial
commemoration of the translator, the Icelandic poet and philologist
Jon Helgason. The fact that it was translated is perhaps even more
impressive than its survival in Latin! Incidentally Jon Helgason
also translated another poem mentioned on this list recently -
Pangur Ban - although I suspect he did not go back to the Old Irish
version.
