Dear List Members
I would like to share experiences and hear opinions on the usage of
Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (DMU) within physiotherapy practice by
physiotherapists.
I know there are very few clinics that are using such equipment (or can
afford it!!) however I see many advantages in clinical practice in the
clinician performing the scanning. Certainly DMU could influence the
management of soft tissue injuries but it could also serve as a very useful
biofeedback device eg. showing a patient a Transversus Abdominis muscle
contraction etc.
I'm interested in policies and procedures of physiotherapists using this
equipment. I know of only one course at Leeds Metropolitan University run by
a Radiologist (Wayne Gibbon) designed specifically for physiotherapists and
DMU. Could anyone on the list with information on this topic post their
reply to the list to stimulate discussion on this topic.
Thank you in advance.
