If it is significant that the two elements (the woman who cooks her
child and the calculation of the Jews and the pieces of silver) be
found together, then a parallel appears in the Alphabetum
Narrationum of Arnold of Liege, OP, no. 319 in the Middle English
translation, where the source is given as "the 'Cronicles'". The woman
is not named. A critical edition of the Latin original is in preparation
by C. Ribaucourt, according to my notes (does anyone have any
information about this?); perhaps the history of the story will be
traced in the notes. Have you (or your friend) tried the Speculum
historiale?
