Job Description: GHC Clinical Epidemiologist
Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound (GHCPS) has an immediate opening for a full time clinical epidemiologist. GHCPS is a non-profit HMO based in Seattle, Washington with a long history of population based care and evidence-based clinical improvements. This is an opportunity to participate in developing world class evidence-based guidelines and other health care quality improvements. Depending on skills and interest, the individual may also have a supervisory role.
The ideal candidate for this position will:
* Have formal training in clinical epidemiology
* Have experience working as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
* Be comfortable facilitating groups working on evidence-based clinical improvements
* Participate in teaching evidence-based medicine concepts to clinicians on a one-to-one basis and at CME conferences and workshops.
The clinical epidemiologist will pose questions to the medical literature, critically appraise literature on a wide range of clinical topics, produce concise and accurate evidence summaries. The job will entail working with guideline teams and clinical leaders to develop evidence tables, balance sheets to determine benefits and harms and costs of various interventions. The output of this work will be used to determine if there is sufficient evidence to warrant changes in clinical practice, create
clinical guidelines and adopt new technologies.
