I am looking for any information anyone may have on elbow capsulotomies -
particularly anterior ones.
A surgeon i work for is proposing to do an anterior release of the capsule
in a sixteen year old boy who sustained a fracture of his medial epicondyle
two years ago.
I haven't seen the boy myself yet but according to his notes he has full
flexion, pronation and supination but is lacking forty degrees of
extension. Having spoken to the surgeon she feels it is definitely soft
tissue restriction and not bony. She has done an MRI scan to exclude any
osteochondritic lesions etc.
She is wanting us to get an elbow CPM to mobilise the joint post surgery
and the OCCupational Therapists will make an extension splint for the
night.
Has anyone got any information / experience with this type of operation as
I have a few worries about it and the benefits we may gain .
Thanks
