it's real, and brian haynes has it at the top of his chapter on searching
for the 2nd edition of the ebm book. it's from an essay by George
Pickering in the Brit Med J 1956;2:113-116.:
My students are dismayed when I say to them "Half of what you are taught
as medical students will in 10 years have been shown to be wrong. And the
trouble is, none of your teachers knows which half."
