I personally think that both Chris' e-mail and the e-mails of those who
disagree with him are generally well-written and well thought-out. It
seems funny that a discussion which began as a discussion about what is
spurious has turned into one which actually has some room for some quite
sophisticated and interesting arguments. Personal attacks are really not
appropriate, though; I took Chris' comments as they were intended, I think
- as a joke.
On another note, I have been trying to find Francois de Polignac's "La
Naissance de la cite grecque" in the original French and I've been having
a hard time here in the States. Does anyone know off-hand how I might get
my hands on a copy without leaving the country?
Thanks, Dimitri
