Dear All,
DUNDEE CONSERVATION UNIT RSLP BID
At the last SUSCAG meeting we discussed how SUSCAG could
assist the Dundee Conservation Unit to put forward a bid for
the Research Support Libraries Programme funding. In
response Ylva has sent us the following draft of a letter of
support from SUSCAG. Ylva has been in discussion with
Edinburgh University and consequently will be inserting a
'mutual recognition' phrase into the bid to avoid possible
conflicts.
How does everyone feel about SUSCAG supporting the
Dundee Conservation Unit bid? Would everyone be happy if
Lesley sent this letter out to RSLP as Convener of SUSCAG?
This letter does not need to go out with the 'Expression of
interest', but would be used if the Unit are invited onto
the next stage of bidding.
Jacqui
SUSCAG Secretary
--------------------------------------------------
DRAFT LETTER:
SUSCAG recognises the major contribution that the
University of Dundee Library Conservation Unit has made to
the preservation of documentary heritage held in the Higher
Education Institutions in Scotland, both directly by
providing conservation services, and indirectly by running
training courses and generally raising awareness of
conservation issues. With few exceptions, all the HE
institutions in Scotland have benefited in the form of
advice, consultancy, survey work, preservation, and
remedial conservation. In order to ensure the continuation
of this important service at full capacity, and to maximise
the benefit from the initial investment by SHEFC, SUSCAG
hopes that RSLP funding will be forthcoming to enable the
Library Conservation Unit to develop and sustain its
support for other research collections in the effort to
increase access.
