Hi Rob
I would bear in mind the age of your dancer and any past history of
growth spurts with concurrent injuries to the lower limb.......but O/E I
would be looking for:
lumbar lesions especially at the dorsolumbar & lumbosacral junctions
ilial torsion or other dysfunction of the SI joints - often accompanied
by a DL lesion
hypertonia or tightness especially of the calf musculature & hamstrings
- bet they're tight if she is always up on her toes
yukiness of the anterior tibials
tibial torsion - may need to adjust the knee
foot / ankle biomechanics
It's really potentially a tin of worms - sorting out cause & effect. I
always do some meaningful soft tissue work on the calf for any foot or
knee problem which seems to make an immediate difference no matter what
the symptoms........and also always mobilise the foot joints which again
seems to help even if they are relatively mobile (not many of those
around!)
Good luck
Sophie Dhenin
