I asked the AEB about this once as I ahd heard similar tales a few years ago. To
the best of my recollection they said that they knew of no university who saw
economics and Business Studies as one not two A levels for acceptance purposes.
Now it is true however that most schools do not allow pupils to study for both
the A levels. It is also true - based only on personal anecdotal experience of
course - that someone who studies Economics would find Business Studies very
easy. In which case the university stance outlined would seem to be the correct
one.
However, I do wonder how widely this is known. Certainly at some tutorial
colleges - especially in Oxford - it is not uncommon for students to sit
Economics and Business Studies precisely because of the overlap. It could be,
however, that these students would not aspire to places such as Warwick.
Any further input would be welcome.
