One of our research staff has asked me for a map that shows
"Central London". We looked at sources such as O.S. administrative
boundary maps but quickly realised that we didn't know how to define
the area. Can anyone tell me what actually constitutes Central
London and whether or not it has any officially defined boundary at
all? The only (historic) clue I can find in our own collection is a
map from the Atlas of London (1968) that depicts a "Registrar
General's Central Area".
Thanks.
