The possibility of ESRC networks might usefully be considered in relation
to the HEFCE-funded Subject Networks which will be up and running by the
end of the year. (You probably read the Atkins report and subsequent
consultation about Subject Centres.)
Informed opinion seems to suggest that rather than 'Subject Centres', HEFCE
might fund 'Subject Networks' for the development of learning and teaching
in disciplines. GLAD, which is currently the main network support for
learning and teaching in art and design, is currently in discussion with
potential partners to prepare for a suitable bid when the time comes. Watch
