Hi all,
I've just joined this list, so a brief intro.
I'm a psychology graduate who's been working in the
field of supported accommodation for the mentally il
for the last 7 years, mostly in the UK but also in
New Zealand.
I've joined this list because my professional
experience has been one of a manifest lack of
evidence based work. We have in the UK a range of
supported accommodation resources, but my experience
has been, especially while working as an agency
worker in London in a large number of places, that
there is a lack of consistency both within and
between organisations. Indeed, much of the practice
is actively contradictory of each other.
My understanding of the findings of the
soon to be published Cochrane Schizophrenia Groups
analysis of the research done on supported
accommodation is that there isn't the research
available of rigour enough to be a guide to practice.
This helps to understand my experience. So what I'm
looking for here is information on research that is
being carried out, both here and in other countries.
I'm aware of the Springboard Fellowship at Queen
Mary's in London, but other than that would like to
hear of more.
Best wishes,
Steve Thayne.
