Reader/Senior Lecturer in Sociology
Department of Human Sciences, Brunel University
Applications are invited for a newly created senior post in Sociology. The post is the result of special research initiative funding provided by the University to further the development of Brunel Sociology. It follows funding of a new Professorship in 1998. This new senior appointment will provide further academic leadership in an expanding group with ambitions to raise its research profile to the highest levels of excellence. The duties of the appointee will be concentrated in research for at least the first three years.
Applicants should have an international reputation and an outstanding record of research in any area of Sociology, although preference may be given to those specialising in the general areas of either Culture and Communications, Virtual Society or Media Studies.
The appointee will join a strong, lively, interdisciplinary Department with high RAE ratings (Social Anthropology: 5; Sociology: 4*; Psychology: 3a) and top HEFCE teaching quality assessments (Social Anthropology and Sociology both rated as "Excellent").
Starting date 1st September 1999 or by agreement. Salary will be on the Reader/Senior lecturer scale, minimum £30,496 per annum plus London Weighting of £1412 per annum (£ = UK Sterling).
