Keynote Speaker: Dr. Martin Dillon, Executive Director, OCLC Institute
Audience: Those interested in information retrieval from the Web, grant
applicants to the Illinois State Library, Web masters/publishers. Not an
elementary look at Web resource discovery, but neither is it highly
technical. It is intended as an overview of metadata, its uses and its
implementation, and a discussion of related issues.
Dr. Dillon will address:
Trends in electronic information
Benefits of metadata to the user and the Web publisher The Dublin Core
Metadata Set
What is CORC? Why is it important?
Following Dr. Dillon's remarks, a panel discussion will probe pertinent
issues concerning metadata and its implementation. Panelists include:

Research and Planning, Technical Services
Andrew Bullen, North Suburban Library System, Information Systems Manager
