Subject: modality use
yes the pta's are sufficiently qualified to some extent, a chimp could move
the ultrasound head for gosh sakes, but....
are they qualified to:
determine when and when not to use it
use it in the proper context and progression - modalities are over used
it also opens up the issue of:
can they learn basic rom and joint mobs
then can they learn basic assessment
then can they learn exercise programs
then can they learn......
this path can only open up the profession to be run over by a "cheaper"
version and eventually i can see pta schools teaching basic rehab pricipals
and all we are left to do is supervise (placed into middle management) then
voila we are phased out...
this is my own bias but i have seen it happen in the us to some degree
in canada we have much greater power and this is the time to stand up and
be accounted for and prove we are the only service providers with the
ability to pull from many areas and to provide full complete
therapy/rehab/injuy prevention/sport therapy!!!!!!
please forward this to the mailbase as well my server has difficulty
getting though for some reason.
thank-you
Rob Herman
