This course, presented by BUFVC staff, provides an opportunity for
participants to learn about and to up-date their knowledge of film and
television sources in the UK and the rest of Europe. The Council produces the
Researcher’s Guide to British Film and Television Collections, and holds the
database of Film and Television Collections in Europe: The MAP-TV Guide. We
also have the database of the British Universities Newsreel Project and the
Television Index and AVANCE. Each of these have been compiled within BUFVC’s
specialist Information Service. The course will include discussion on film
and videotape formats, copyright clearance, viewing and access arrangements.
Intended audience: trainee film and television researchers, academic
researchers and librarians wishing to gain access to archival audio-visual

Imagination/Universities Network Pilot, leads this course designed to look at
the problems and issues relating to the digitisation of moving images for
online delivery from server technology. The course is aimed at teaching staff
with a special interest in the use of moving pictures, librarians, producers,
archivists and academic service providers.
Intended audience: Audio-visual service providers, computer services staff,
librarians and those involved in exploring new forms of delivery of moving
