Subject: CASP conference announcement
************************************************************************
CASPInternational Network Conference
5-9 July 1999, University of East London, UK
Critical Appraisal Skills Training
************************************************************************
The Critical Appraisal Skills Programme aims to help health service
decision makers, and those who seek to influence health service
decisions, develop skills in the critical appraisal of evidence about
effectiveness, in order to promote the delivery of evidence-based
healthcare. In addition, CASP workshops improve participants’ ability
to structure their decisions and handle uncertainty in the decision
making process.
The CASPInternational Network has been set up as a result of worldwide
interest in the services offered by CASP UK. Queries have been
received from over 30 countries, including Holland, Spain and Portugal.
Argentina, Spain, South Africa, USA and Norway are actively seeking
collaboration, and international organisations operating from Britain
have also approached CASP.
The first CASPInternational Network conference is to be held in London,
England on 5-9th July 1999. It includes a full training programme and,
in addition, offers the opportunity to mix with people from throughout
the U.K. in discussions, exchanges of ideas and displays of best
practice for CASP workshops.
The price of the conference and training programme is £750.00 per
person, excluding accommodation. There are 25 places available. CASP
may be able to provide guidance on obtaining bursaries to enable hard-
pressed colleagues to attend the conference. Accommodation will be
found locally for those wishing to take advantage of lower prices.
Visits to the Tower of London and the House of Commons are included.
Details of the programme and training offered are detailed overleaf.
