Hello fellow ergonomists!
I am new to this mailbase thing so please forgive me if I transgress any
'netiquette' custom!
I am the supervisor for the Human Factors and Ergonomics group most of
which is based at Ford's Dunton Engineering Centre in the South East. I
have responsibility for providing product ergonomics support for all
vehicles that are developed by Ford in Europe (predominantly in UK &
Germany).
It is in this capacity that I would like to alert the ergonomics
community to the possibility of contract job opportunities (through Ford
approved contract agencies) for ergonomists who have some product or
engineering experience. The roles entail working with automotive
designers/stylists and engineers to ensure that the product when sold to
the customer will meet or exceed expectations for the attribute of
'ergonomics'. Much of the work involves working as a team member, of
sometimes quite a few teams, and using solid ergonomics and engineering
arguments to steer the teams towards design solutions that we can
consider to be 'ergonomic'.
These roles will be highly applied, and will probably appeal to those of
us who like cars, like to make a difference but enjoy team working and
find difficult challenges exciting.
Those interested should email or send me a CV in the first instance, but
should be prepared to sign up with one of Ford's approved contract
agencies later in the process.
Many thanks.
Regards
Mike Bradley
