ONE-DAY CONFERENCE
Saturday 19 June, University of Westminster, 115 New Cavendish St, London W1
URBAN PUBLIC SPACE AT THE MILLENNIUM
This multi-discipline conference brings together recent and current research
on urban public space, to examine its significance and dynamics at the turn
of the Millennium. With the increased awareness of the central place of
cities, especially in economic competitiveness and social
inclusion/exclusion, the changing nature of urban public space has come
under greater scrutiny. Recent research with a sociological focus or
dimension has examined the meaning and significance of public space, its
uses, functions, control, form, and appearance, and the structured patterns
of spaces and spatial connections.
