Can anyone tell me anything about the Gartcraig Coal and Fireclay
Company at Shettlestone, in Lanarkshire. I have received the query
below.
"I am writing you about some bricks we have found at an old mine site
here on Vancouver island British Columbia, the site is located 44 miles
north of the capitol of B.C., Victoria, I found the Gartcraig mine
listed on your website, the mine site we found the bricks at dates from
l903 to l908 and was operated by the Tyee Development Company which was
a British company. The Gartcraig bricks are all fire bricks from the
boilers of the water pump house and the mine shaft house, the mine was a
copper mine. There is a very good thumbprint on one of the bricks, any
information you could add would be very much appreciated.
Thank you kindly
Chris Hill"
