PhD Studentship in History of Science/Technology/Medicine
A three-year PhD studentship is available from September 1999 for
research in the history of science/technology/medicine. Applications
in all areas are welcome, though projects on the history of
nineteenth- and twentieth-century physical and chemical
sciences/technologies are especially encouraged. Informal discussions
with CHSTM staff regarding possible research topics are welcome.
Applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a Master's degree in
history of science/technology or a related subject. Undergraduates
expecting to graduate with first or good upper second class honours
and with some background in HST are also eligible to apply; if
successful, attendance at research training courses will be required
in their first year.
The award covers University fees at home/EU rate and maintenance
at a rate significantly above that of the ESRC/AHRB; paid tutorial
teaching will also be available.
