COMPASS Project
IMAGING ASSISTANT -2 POSTS
c. £14,500
The British Museum COMPASS system will add a new dimension to visitors' experiences, using all the capabilities of multimedia to present information on some 5000 objects on display in the galleries. The system will be accessed via workstations located in the historic round Reading Room, now the centre piece of the Museum's millennium Great Court project.
We are looking for two Imaging Assistants who will play a crucial role in the production of high quality digital images for the COMPASS system. The images will be sourced from existing transparencies and the manipulation process will include cleaning, cropping, adding shadows and compressing. Candidates must therefore be skilled in the use of Photoshop and ideally possess knowledge of other imaging software.
Working as part of a small, highly motivated team, the imaging assistants will work closely with the image co-ordinator to establish an efficient image production process. You will, however, need to prioritize your own workload in order to meet strict deadlines. Our targets are ambitious and you must be able to demonstrate an ability to process a high volume of work whilst maintaining quality standards.
The results will be seen by millions of people from all across the world, both in Bloomsbury and by visitors to the COMPASS Web site.
