The BUILDER Project has re-launched its Web site at
http://builder.bham.ac.uk
The site has been re-structured into three key strands:
1. The BUILDER Hybrid Library
This will require authenticated access and will present an information
landscape of resources to users, depending on their needs (undergraduate,
academic staff, subject area etc). This will open for business shortly.
2. Other Products Developed by BUILDER
A number of specific products have been developed by BUILDER, including a
pilot Electronic Short Loan service, Exam Papers online, a Thin Client
Demonstrator showing a CD-ROM running over the internet, and 2 reports about
the cultural impact of the hybrid library. The products already released are
listed, and can be accessed directly. Other products will be added to this
list as they emerge and Midland History is due to be released shortly.
3. About the BUILDER Project
The amount of information available here has increased. The new 'Product
Documentation' section contains documents, graphs and spreadsheets relating
to Digitisation Processes, Project Dissemination, Electronic Short Loan,
Exam Papers Database, Project Evaluation, Midland History and Toolbox
development. The 'Official Documents' section includes the Annual Report,
the Project Plan and minutes of key meetings. Other sections are 'Mission',
'Publications & Presentations', 'Stakeholders' and 'Contacts & Links'.
A full search facility for the BUILDER Web site will be available shortly.

--------------------------
BUILDER aims to develop a working model of the hybrid library within both a
teaching and research context, seamlessly integrating access to a wide range
of printed and electronic information sources, local and remote, using a
Web-based interface, and in a way which will be universally applicable.
BUILDER is supported as part of the Electronic Libraries Programme (eLib)
which is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the
Higher Education Funding Councils.
