Colleagues,
We thought that, if you haven't heard already, you
might be interested to hear the following:
1). Nigeria's General Abubakr went to Equatorial Guinea on Friday and he
and his EQ counterpart have produced a first draft for a final settlement
of their bilateral border dispute. The final draft will be hammered out in
Bata in two weeks time and the agreement will be signed in Abuja before
27th May when Abubakr leaves office.
2). Equatorial Guinea has reached an agreement with Sao Tome but the
details have not been published yet
3). An agreement has also reportedly been reached between Equatorial
Guinea and Cameroon.
4). Nigeria has decided to file its counter-memorial in the ICJ case
against
Cameroon before the 31st May deadline in order to precede Abubakr's
departure from office on 27th.
I would be interested to hear if you had heard the same and/or
whether you have any other news about the disputes.
Best wishes - Charles Gurdon
