TWO BILLION YEARS OF TECTONICS AND MINERALISATION
Perth, September 1999.
Orogenic belts yield insights into understanding of Earth lithospheric
processes as well as spatial and temporal cross-sections of large
mineral deposits and their ore-forming events. Recent multidisciplinary
studies of orogenic systems have applied numerous analytical techniques
within geology, geochemistry, and geophysics to unravel histories of
sedimentation, deformation, and denudation in these regions. This
conference focuses on new advances in these techniques, applied to all
orogenic systems but with particular emphasis on the Paleoproterozoic
network of fold belts such as the Capricorn orogen in Western Australia
and its possible continuations on other Paleoproterozoic cratons.
