For me- brilliant. So far only two students using this version. OK so far.
Downloading & transcription is excellent as it's faster than real time. I
prefer copying it to the PC as a wav file. That then allows me to wipe it off
the mobile if I want to & experiment re playback of transcription, trying
different configurations re transcription with no commands, with restricted
ones, etc.. This helped me to improve recognition. Above all, however, as for
non-mobile NatSpeaking, use of VocBuilder is paramount. That really matters.
Training misrecognition matters also. For me recognition has been so close to
that produced via soundcard with VXi that I have ended up with the best results
from saving a copy of my standard voice files as a mobile version & using them.
This has also allowed me to make corrections using the VXi mike.
Obviously, as I said, luck MAY play a part. That I rely on such technology for
my livelihood & pain reduction also keeps me patient. Not getting irritated &
therefore inadvertently changing my voice profile by swearing & tensing up
undoubtedly helps! :^)
As I wrote to the RSI-UK newsgroup re my own experiences:
"When errors have occurred the correct version of what I said has usually been
choice two
through choice four. I'm now getting the same sort of statistics (when I
actually bother to think of stats) with the mobile recorder. Following earlier
suggestions I speak into the recorder, WITHOUT using a microphone attachment,
keeping the built-in microphone near the corner of my mouth. I use the Phillips
SpeechMike at home and in the office the VXi Gold mike which came with
NaturallySpeaking Pro 3.0
I'm even using the PCI SoundBlaster Audio 64 on-motherboard sound chip. Maybe
I'm just lucky, although I also know that having a deep voice also helps! By
the way, yes, I DO use the UK versions, and always have, so it's not because of
my accent. [ie, for those lucky enough not to have met or (worse) heard me
talking ad infinitum- despite almost 20 years in the UK my accent shows my
Panamanian/naturalised USA roots!]
At work 450Mhz (necessary ESP for Pro version), 128MB RAM; Home 450/256MB. 512
L2 cache. BTW, Tecno has their own-brand 8MB Smartmedia cards for UKP29.99,
suitable for @80+ minutes VR quality recording.

This message may have been typed, but on a typically bad RSI day it will have
been produced using voice recognition software; please ignore any dictation
errors I failed to notice.
