Does anyone have any experience of dealing with/diagnosing profoundly
deaf students for dyslexia. I have a student, a BSL user, whose
lecturer seems to thinks she may be dyslexic (from the evidence I
have seen of her written work my guess her difficulties are more
associated to the literacy difficulties that deaf students face)
However, I was curious as to how people who's first language is BSL
are tested. I would imagine having an interpreter present at
diagnostic testing is not an ideal solution but are there any others?
Also, does anyone know of any specific literature/info that I can
relate the lecturer which provides detailed explanation of the
specific literacy difficulties encountered by some deaf students?
Any feedback welcome
Thanks
