Hello. I am developing a code for my doctoral dissertation. The majority of the
development was done on an Absoft v5 compiler on the Intel platform (AMD K6/2
350).
I recently tried to move the code to the target platform, which is Sun/Unix
based, and ran into the above error. What's unusual about this is that the error
does not occur immediately, but rather after three iterations. From what I know
of the logic, nothing distinguishes that iteration from the second (or fourth,
if there were one). I am allocating some arrays dynamically as I go, so it's
possible that I am reallocating an array at the time. But I don't think that
would cause a floating exception - then again, what do I know?
I think I'll stop here. What I am most interested in is advice on how to nail
down the cause of the bug. Since the code runs fine on the Absoft platform, I
suspect a compiler problem with Sunsoft, but who knows. I'll give more detail on
the situation if you like, but that's it in a nutshell. "Floating exception" is
just very nondescript.
Thanks,
Alvaro Fernandez
