Dear Friends,
Experience shows that postings from any source with _answers_ to questions
_hardly ever_ get posted to this list. Lots of questions and no answers.
While it would be nice to think that people would take the time to compile
the answers they receive and post them, experience shows that it seldom
happens. Also, experience shows that people seldom reply to any but the
original poster; this is because of the way the Reply-to: line is set.
Viewed as a way to get your puzzlements out to the BUGS world and maybe
receive an answer, this list works fine.
But it works poorly as a source of useful information about how to use BUGS.
Since last April when I signed on, I count ~325 messages posted to the
list, about one a day. Considering the low traffic on this list, I
sincerely doubt that clutter would significantly increase if the Reply-to:
line were set to the list rather than to the recipient, particularly if
people exercised a modicum of discipline in their answers. Thus I would
favor changing the Reply-to: line.
