Archives Assistant
RE-ADVERTISEMENT
The Archive Division of SOAS Library administers a large and important
collection of archives, manuscripts and rare books relating to the
study of Asia and Africa and the history of European activity in those
continents, from the 17th to the 20th century.
Applications are invited for the post of Archives Assistant. The
post-holder will assist in the general work of the Section, including
supervision of readers in the new Special Collections Reading Room;
processing of reprographic orders and entering data into the
CAIRS-TMS database. The post is suitable for a graduate seeking
further experience before starting an archives diploma course.
Candidates should have a good honours degree in history or related
subject, preferably with some experience of working with archives.
Other work experience, particularly with members of the public is of
relevance. Excellent communication and organisational skills are
essential as is an ability to work independently and as a team member.
Candidates should be computer literate with good keyboarding skills
and be able to work accurately and quickly.
