Can you spend 15/20 minutes of your time to answer a questionnaire? Its
aim is to examine current practices and attitudes in UK Higher Education
with regard to the language used in the teaching of Cultural studies
modules/courses (e.g. literature, area studies, film, modern history,
applied linguistics) within Language degrees.
There are different ways to complete this questionnaire:
- directly online by going to http://legacy.unl.ac.uk/sels/survey.htm on
the internet. This is the quickest way. I recommend a visit.
- by e-mail or by post. Reply to me on [log in to unmask] and I'll
e-mail you (or send you by post if you prefer) a questionnaire. I can
'copy and paste' it or attach it (Word or WordPerfect). You can return
it by e-mail or by post.
I would really be very grateful if you would participate (and perhaps
even circulate this E-mail to colleagues). It will enable us to share
information on a topic which is still widely debated among language
teaching groups across the country and I'll send you a report on the
results of the survey if you so wish. The results of this survey will
contribute to a forthcoming volume of the CILT/AFLS "Current Issues in
University Language Teaching" series (Provisional title: Target Culture
- Target Language? Eds. N.McBride & K.Seago).
