Reflecting on when a German woman writer might get a Nobel prize, it's
taken 40 years for Grass, took Th. Mann 28 years, though Boell did
rather better getting his in 1972 - it may be a while before the women
make their mark.
To quote Laurie Anderson in 1988:
"For every dollar a man makes, a woman makes 64 cents. Now, 50 years
ago, it was 63 cents. With that kind of luck, it'll be the year 3788
before we make a buck."
